Green Light Awareness

Updated: 2 years ago - Created: March 16th, 2011

Do you know what it means if you see a car with a flashing green light in its window? The Greater Madawaska Fire Department wants to ensure the Township of Greater Madawaska residents understand that the flashing green lights they see in the front window of cars means that those drivers are volunteer firefighters on their way to an emergency. If you see a car with a flashing green light, please be courteous and yield the right of way.

The Greater Madawaska Fire Department is comprised of a number of volunteer firefighters based out of two stations:

  • Station #1 – on Hwy 511 in Calabogie
  • Station #2 – on Hwy 41 in Griffith

When an emergency occurs volunteer firefighters are paged. They respond immediately by activating the flashing green lights on their personal vehicles and drive to their designated fire station as quickly and safely as possible.

AlertInspections help prevent fires.
