It is an interactive game for children to play and learn about fire safety. Participants are able to print a certificate of completion with their name on it when they successfully complete the online quiz show. Our appreciation is extended to the Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division which was the source of this interactive game!

Do you know what it means if you see a car with a flashing green light in its window? The Greater Madawaska Fire Department wants to ensure the Township of Greater Madawaska residents understand that the flashing green lights they see in the front window of cars means that those drivers are volunteer firefighters on their way to an emergency. Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, the tragic 1871 conflagration that killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres. Effective March 1, 2006, it is the law for all Ontario homes to have a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside all sleeping areas. With this previously announced Fire Code amendment now in effect, it is hoped there will be a reduction of the number of preventable fire-related injuries and fatalities.
